Back to School (Highland, Poston, MV, BYU, GW)

Carie, Matthew & Courtney started school on August 8, 2012.

Katie and Kristin took Kimberly out to DC on the 15th.
We spent about half the time moving Kimberly in and the other half sight-seeing.

Her new home.

The first thing we got was a bed. We asked when it could be delivered and the man replied, "Tomorrow, or if you let me strap it to the top of your car, today!"

The girls talked me into it and away we drove!
After spending the rest of the day buying bedding, linens, etc. we took Katie to see GW and then for a walk around the monuments.

The next day we got up and went to Alexandria and enjoyed shopping on Kings Street before setting out on the Mt. Vernon bike trail.

We had so much fun!

On Saturday we hit the Smithsonians.

We visited the Holocaust Museum, the American History, the Natural History & the National Galleries.

We then walked up by the capitol and went to the Library of Congress.

Katie was a trooper!  She did not feel good, but didn't want to miss out on anything.
She rested in the hotel that afternoon while Kimberly and  I purchased a desk, chair, lamp, etc.
We spent the evening finishing up the room.

On Sunday we visited Arlington Cemetery.

We should have been more aware of the clouds moving in!

We got caught in a torrential downpour as we were at the Kennedy memorials.
FUN MEMORY!

That night we drove through DC and visisted the monuments.

We said goodbye to Kimberly the next morning and tried not to cry too much.

Katie and I did some window shopping in Georgetown before heading back to the airport.

I was so relieved just to turn the car in and sit down at the airport for a bit before returning home.

It is wonderful to be home and we have spent the rest of the week getting Katie ready to head off to school.

She left this afternoon. We will miss her!!!
